Home Economics encourage people towards personal independence, living effectively in a wider society, and promoting preferred futures for self and other in contexts related to Food and Nutrition, Hospitality and Early Childhood Studies.
Home Economics involves the study of:

Specific Aims of Home economics include the following:
1. To develop an understanding of the relation of food to health and a keen and intelligent interest in maintaining sensible food habits, of an appreciation of the advisability of careful planning of meals to meet the needs of the various members of the family and yet conserve time, energy, and money, of the importance of receiving health information from reliable sources, to develop skill in cookery commensurate with the time apportioned to practical work.
2. To utilize basic understanding of visual arts, analysis of past and present fashion trends, as well as textile characteristics affecting appearance and performance. Hands-on sewing, as well as utilizing the sewing machine, is treated as a creative art as well as a practical skill enabling the student to construct casual wear in line with current trends. Related career opportunities in the fashion industry will be addressed.
3 To apply the principles of design to interior planning. Projects based on problem solving, decision making, and management of time, energy, and interior space will be included. A client or situation approach will help students to relate activities to career opportunities. The course will feature the designing and furnishing of an interior home or business space.
