The Institute of Health EconomicsThe Institute of Health Economics (IHE) in Alberta, Canada performs research in Health Economics and synthesizes evidence in Health Technology Assessment to assist health policy making and best medical practice.

A selection of current IHE Projects are:

  • An Assessment of Childhood Vaccine Programs
  • Parkinsons Disease: Medical, Social, Ethical and Economic Implications
  • Assessment of Preoperative Routine Investigations
  • Assessment of Alternative Physician Payment Plans

Development of Pharmaceutical Reimbursement Policies

The Institute serves the interests of the general public.

IHE is governed by a Board of sixteen directors, eight represent the universities of Alberta and Calgary, four represent Government and five represent Industry. The Chairman of the Board is Dr. Lorne Tyrrell.
