Health economicsThe importance of health care is something which doesn’t have to be explained. Everybody visits the doctor and dentist and many of us have been treated in hospital. However, health care financing is rather a controversial and urgent issue. To handle the problem a range of economic concepts must be applied.

Economics and health care are studied by Health economics, which is a branch of economics concerned with issues related to scarcity in the health markets.

The five health markets typically analyzed are:

Topics related to various aspects of health economics include the meaning and measurement of health status, the production of health and health care, the demand for health and health services, health economic evaluation, health insurance, the analysis of health care markets, health care financing, and hospital economics.

Health economics is studied in many universities all over the world.
