First lets determine the term Medical tourism by opening the encyclopedia Wikipedia.
Medical tourism is the act of traveling to other countries to obtain medical, dental, and surgical care. This term was created by travel agencies and the media to describe a rapidly growing industry where people travel to other countries to obtain medical care while at the same time vacationing and enjoying the countries they are visiting.

The list of countries currently promoting medical tourism include: Brazil, Cuba, Hungary, India, Israel, Jordan, Lithuania, Malaysia, Thailand and many others.
India medical tourism popularity is in a balance of the most competent doctors and world class Medical Facilities with the low prices.
Its also very important that Indian Hospitals provide more personalized care than available in the west.
Indian specialists say that the medical treatment in the USA is equal to a tour to India + medical treatment + savings.
India is known in particular for heart surgery and hip resurfacing, areas of advanced medicine in which India is generally considered a global leader.

For example, in April Madras Medical Mission, a Chennai-based hospital, successfully conducted a complex heart operation on an 87-year-old American patient at a reported cost of $8,000 including the cost of his airfare and a month’s stay in hospital. The patient claimed that a less complex operation in America had earlier cost him $40,000.
Estimates of the value of india medical tourism go as high as $2 billion a year by 2012.
Its not a surprise that a lot of medical conferences and seminars are hold in India.
